Alban Arthan (Winter Solstice) is on Monday, December 21. Our ceremony and celebration take place on the prior Sunday, December 20.
This ceremony is also in the midst of our celebrations of the winter season, and the gatherings afterward will focus on the theme set on Alban Arthan. Here is the agenda for our ceremony:
- Greeting and centering
- Full Alban Arthan ritual
- Eisteddfod (tied to the season and/or discussion topic)
- Feast (along with discussion)
- Topic discussion (see below)
We will begin promptly at 12:00 PM, so to make sure all attendees arrive with ample time, feel free to come as early as 11:00 AM.
The feast is potluck style; coordinate with the organizer (Josh). Please make sure to let us know if there are dietary restrictions. While we socialize and feast after the ritual and eisteddfod, we will engage in our topic discussion. The topic for Alban Elfed is as follows:
Alban Arthan is a time of rest, renewal, and reflection. It is a time of introspection, but also the rebirth of the sun and a celebration of the returning light. Samhain started our winter period of introspection and rest, and we continue with our slow tending of the spirit within at the winter solstice. What has been revealed from the light of the quiet hearth and the soft glow of the candle this winter? And what aspects of darkness are tending your needed rest during this time?
